Andy Oberta recently retired from a forty-year career as an internationally-recognized consultant and expert on the hazards of asbestos-containing materials. He holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering and a Master of Public Health degree in Environmental Health. He was Certified in Comprehensive Practice by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene from 1982 to 2021, accredited from 1988 to 2018 as a Project Designer, Asbestos Inspector and Management Planner under the EPA Model Accreditation Plan, and was licensed as an asbestos consultant in Texas from 1995 to 2017. The author of six ASTM standards on asbestos control and the ASTM Manual on Asbestos Control, he received ASTM International’s highest honor, the Award of Merit, in 2016 for his thirty years of service to the organization.
