Established in 2004 by Linda Reinstein and Doug Larkin, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) has grown to become the largest independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States, dedicated solely to preventing asbestos exposure, eradicating asbestos-related diseases, and safeguarding the civil rights of asbestos victims.
We are proud to headquarter our organization in Redondo Beach, California, where we tirelessly work towards a world free of asbestos-related ailments.
This year, we are excited to announce the 20th Annual Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference, “Building on Dr. Selikoff’s Legacy in Asbestos Science, Prevention & Justice,” which will be held on September 12-13, 2025, in New York City.
Through the years, ADAO’s size and influence have grown, but our mission has remained steadfast. We focus on Education, Advocacy and Community to combat asbestos’s toxic reach and to see lives saved by stopping exposure before it occurs.
We strive to raise awareness among the public and medical community about asbestos-related diseases and methods of preventing asbestos exposure. Additionally, we support research aimed at early detection, prevention, and cure of these diseases.
Our team collaborates with organizations worldwide to achieve a global asbestos ban. We persistently raise awareness about the alarming fact that asbestos, despite its lethal effects, remains legal in the U.S.
ADAO fosters a supportive community where asbestos victims can share their stories, learn about treatment options, and support each other in their journeys.
Registration for the conference is now open, with fees as follows:
We have also arranged limited discounted rooms at the Westin Grand Central for registered attendees at a special rate of $299 plus tax.
