The Duran Family – Recipient of the Alan Reinstein Award for their commitment to prevention and policy to ban asbestos.
The Duran family has been deeply involved in the fight against asbestos-related diseases, driven by our personal experience and commitment to making a difference. We have been proud supporters of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), working alongside them to advance prevention efforts and advocate for crucial policy changes.
Our journey became even more personal with the passing of Gilbert Duran, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who succumbed to mesothelioma in 2023. Gilbert’s battle with this devastating disease underscored the urgent need for action and reform. His strength and spirit inspired us to continue fighting for a future free from asbestos-related illnesses.
In honoring Gilbert’s memory, we have dedicated ourselves to supporting ADAO’s mission. Our involvement reflects our deep commitment to both preventing asbestos exposure and promoting policies that will ban this hazardous material once and for all.
Receiving the Alan Reinstein Award is a significant moment for us, acknowledging our efforts and dedication to preventing other families from losing loved ones. We remain steadfast in our resolve to continue this vital work, ensuring that Gilbert’s legacy of courage and advocacy lives on through our actions and support.
